May 2023 Highlights

Can we all agree that May is one long month? So drawn out, it may as well be an extension of January. Thankfully though, Adevia Health USA is an organization committed to creating a great work-life balance by not just encouraging hard work but rewarding it as well. Through the fun committee, the Nairobi team got to be involved in various activities this past month that had them collaborate, create fun and celebrate one another.

Cinco De Mayo kickstarted the month for us. Seeing how much fun the team had at Pablo’s and for a celebration, most didn’t even know about, Cinco De Mayo is the ‘nacho’ average holiday.

Nurses Week is undoubtedly the biggest celebration in May, especially for those working with nurses in any capacity. It is a week-long celebration to appreciate nurses’ significant contributions to health care. We had the opportunity to not only celebrate the nurses we serve but also our in-house nurses who significantly contribute to the success of our client nurses in passing the snake pit that is NCLEX. This we did over a sumptuous buffet meal at Fogo Gaucho. It’s not a celebration without food, now is it?

Mother’s Day had us in our feelings as we got to hear the glorious yet challenging journey that is motherhood, from all the mothers in the team. And no single mother was left out as plant and pet moms ‘otherhood’ got to be acknowledged and celebrated with flowers and gifts as well.

While everyone is part of a team, each member is a unique individual. Birthdays are such a great way to fete individual team members. And this we did by celebrating all May babies. They got the opportunity to share their hopes and aspirations for the new year while reflecting on how far they had come in the past year. A little cringe-worthy yet funny dance-off followed right before they cut and shared cake as well as pizza bitings with the rest of the team.

The highlight of the month had to be the scavenger hunt that culminated on a high note. The entire team was divided into groups and given a list of things like words and items to find. This was such a great in-house team-building exercise that not only encouraged teamwork but also enhanced collaboration with individuals from other departments. And with a grand cash prize up for grabs for the team with the most points, you bet everyone had on their Sherlock Holmes mode. The excitement was palpable when team H consisting of Jonathan, Sylvia, and Alice won. The first and second runners up respectively won a lunch and breakfast date.

May turned out great and we just cannot wait to see what June has in store for us.
